The northern prairies are seeing snow too. It's definitely spring here though. Even though many placess are flooding this spring, the water level in the river here is low. Not sure how that can be, because certainly there was lots of snow to melt. Maybe OPG (Ontario Power Generation) took a page from the book of floods last spring, and drew the level in the reservoir down farther this past winter; there was probably a higher demand for electric power due to the prolonged cold, so it might be a natural adjustment.
At any rate, it is still possible to see the river topography at this point, unlike the last many springs. Now that the rains have backed off, it might mean we are looking at extensive sand beaches this season. That happens every ten years or so, and is always a big hit with vacationers.
