There are excellent meteor shower, northern lights, and stormwatching opportunities*, circumstances permitting.  Check space weather and event forecasts for your vacation time.
*good for storm forecast. Barry's Bay is closer for local info (readings taken in Bancroft).  Neither forecast is accurate.  Lots of times it's not raining here...

Extreme sports alert: the Madawaska River and Moore's Creek have portions  that are suitable for whitewater kayaking in the spring of the year.

There is no fence around Algonquin Park. There are a lot of the same ecological niches and possible experiences for those who yearn for close encounters of the natural kind.  You pack the patience, perseverance, and sense of adventure for success.
